Which Was Harder? Selling it all? Or Getting it all Back?

Like many we were captivated by the idea of minimalist lifestyle, of living on the road, and the freedom it promised.

The Allure of Airstream Living
In February of 2021, the opportunity presented itself and we did not resist. The allure of the open road, the simplicity of life on wheels, and the freedom to go wherever the wind blew, cinched the decision. We knew we would not be returning to Washington State and did not want a storage unit so we sold or donated most of our belongings. We had a list of criteria for each possession — if it wasn’t necessary or didn’t fit in the truck or Airstream — it had to go. We invested in an lightly used 2018 Airstream, bought a 2018 Ford F250, embraced our new minimalist lifestyle and hit the road.

For a little over 2 years, we visited 35 states, and traveled thousands of miles. However, life’s twists and turns often disrupt even the most well-intention plans and we had to make a change in the Spring of 2023. We had sold everything we once owned to embrace a minimalist lifestyle in an Airstream, only to find ourselves back in the clutches of possessions two years later.
