The Fear of the Unknown

Yes, the unknown is daunting, but it’s also where possibilities live.

Today’s stage of grief is depression, layered with uncertainty and fear for the future — both for our country and personally. The questions are heavy, and it’s okay to feel that weight, though it can be overwhelming. Right now, my thoughts keep circling around big decisions, like where we want to live. We’re in Florida, just north of Tampa, and while the sunshine is a highlight, the challenges have made us rethink staying here.

FEAR has two meanings:

Forget Everything And Run.

Face Everything And Rise.”

We bought in an area that fit our budget, but between high taxes, rising insurance costs, a lack of community, and the corrupt political climate, it’s wearing on us. Our initial thought was to explore North Carolina, but seeing places like California stepping up to protect their communities has nudged us to reconsider where we might feel both valued and secure in the upcoming political upheaval. The problem is, many states taking strong protective measures also come with a steep cost of living, which raises the question — how would we manage?

When I start spiraling into the “what-ifs” about the economy, my job, or the unknowns, it feels like I’m standing on a ledge. None of us know exactly what lies ahead…
