The Devil Starts with D
Some D’s will will always triumph over the darkest forces.
It’s safe to say emotions have been running high and are all over the place since November 5th, with denial at the top of the list. Denial — because we can’t wrap our heads around the fact that so many chose a leader whose words and actions have repeatedly proven deceitful, who will bring harm to many, and chose that over the protecting their country, their loved ones, their communities. For some, the denial runs even deeper: a reluctance to believe that the very person they trust could be capable of harm and chose their wallets over mankind.
This week, the letter D has been prominent in more ways than one.
Depression — It’s easy to sink into depression when we face an uncertain future, or worse, a certain future we know is wrong and evil. Even the most resilient, those who normally see the silver linings, are feeling weighed down by the heaviness of it all.
Dreary — It’s like the mood of the season matches our spirits. As winter begins, even Mother Nature mirrors the somberness that so many of us feel.
Despair — It’s heartbreaking to see hope slipping away for so many. How can we remain hopeful when violence, misogyny, racism, and attacks on women seem like the norm? Or when those in power commit horrendous acts without consequence? When the…
