I could give you hundreds of reasons to shop local but let’s start with the number one reason you should Buy Local — This Is YOUR Community!!! You are a stakeholder in your community’s future — do it for your family, for your neighbors, for your community.

There are so many lessons to be learned from the current pandemic. Many lessons we have long since forgotten. Being local and supporting local in most communities has gotten lost over the years; replaced by shopping malls, large box stores, and online conglomerates like Amazon. We are no longer self-reliant or self-sufficient in our own communities, even our own country. Most of what we consume, even our food, is made elsewhere. We need to remember how important communities really are. It took a pandemic to wake most of us up to something we should have known all along.

No one invests more in the local community than local small businesses. Let me repeat that — NO ONE.

1. Local businesses provide JOBS. And with those jobs — money is invested back into the local economy. Employees are essential when it comes to the success of local businesses and local economies. We are really noticing that now with so many employees laid off. There are many advantages of jobs in local businesses; they provide a steady and strong standard-of-living, disposable income, people who care deeply and want to invest in where they work and live. Small businesses and their employees provide a more stable economy.

2. Buying local means supporting your neighbors. It is your neighbors and their small businesses in which keeps your community going and makes it THRIVE. When you shop local, you are not only supporting that business, you are supporting their employees, you provide them with the income to pay rent, utilities, taxes, help fund schools, help fund your communities infrastructure, and more.

3. Most importantly — They invest every dime back into their communities. Local businesses provide a positive impact, even during down times like now.

Now, more than ever, we need our local businesses to be strong and healthy. To remain strong and intact. We need to provide them with emotional and financial support. When they are strong, they provide a strong connection in the community. Businesses pay the largest portion of the taxes in the community. Without them there would be no community. Without them there would be no schools, roads, parks, services, and more.

Yes, I could give you a hundred reasons why you should support your local businesses, but you only really need one — IT IS OUR COMMUNITY!
