It’s Not So Far After All
I am suddenly in my 60s, I wasn’t expecting it so soon.
When we are in our early twenties, youth gives us an optimistic look at the future and the 60s are SO FAR AWAY.
If you marry young, like I did, your 50th Anniversary is SO FAR AWAY.
Here you are in your 60s and you think, “Oh, shit. It’s not SO FAR AWAY, after all.”
This last year, the being 60s reminders hit pretty hard. Our short retirement ended. Hubby had a heart attack. I reached Medicare age. And, we did the Senior thing, we moved to Florida.
“Congratulations on reaching 60! Now that you’re officially a senior, it’s time to embrace the perks — discounted coffee, early bird specials, and naps on demand!”
It’s understandable to feel surprised or even caught off guard by the passage of time, especially when significant milestones like turning 60 or 65 arrive so suddenly. Life has a way of moving swiftly, we blinked and years had passed.
While it might feel sudden, entering our 60s can also be an exciting time filled with new opportunities and experiences. Instead of the possibilities of the future we anticipated in our youth, we can reflect back and applaud the accomplishments we made in our past and embrace how to use them in our future. We now have the experience and wisdom (hopefully)…
